FAYETTE — Services for James Shannon, 85, of Fayette, who died Monday, May 16, 2016, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. today at Spirit Filled Life Christian Church in Fayette with the Rev. Larry Shannon officiating. 

Burial will follow at Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Shannon was born March 13, 1931, in Tupelo, the son of Lee and Willie B. Shannon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Josie Evelyn Shannon; three sisters, Helen, Mannie and Corrie; two brothers, George and Judge; and one grandson, Shannon Green.

Survivors include five children, Sandra Faye Green and husband, Allen, Cynthia Harris and husband, Gregory, the Rev. Larry Shannon and wife, Alice, Shelia Allen and husband, Darrel, and Landra Washington; one sister-in-law, Gladys Tyler; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
