WOODVILLE — Graveside services for Charlie Danny Carter, 76, of Woodville, who died Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Our Lady of The Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, will be 11 a.m. today at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Bernard Waites, the Rev. Warren Whitaker and the Rev. Warren Whitaker II officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Newman Funeral Home in Centreville.
Mr. Carter was born Oct. 20, 1939, in the Buffalo community of Wilkinson County, the son of Jimmie Sessions Carter and Orilla Leake Carter.
He was a retired electrician and was actively involved in the chip mill business for a number of years.
He was also an instructor of industrial electricity at the Vocational Technical School in Woodville in past years.
Mr. Carter served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Point Defiance during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Elizabeth Matthews and husband, George, Mattie Clara Reed and husband, Homer and Lydia Leona Carter; and one brother-in-law, Milton Wesberry.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Carter; one son, David Carter and wife, Carrie, of Woodville; two brothers, Alex Dave Carter and wife, Dot, and Jimmie Sessions Carter and wife, Pauline, all of Baton Rouge; four sisters, Elbertine Wesberry of Woodville and Orilla Lea Butler and husband, Glen, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Arilla Bea Weeks and husband, Charles, of Romance, Ark., and Malva Weaver and husband, Shannon, of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Stephen Seal and wife, Edine, of Woodville; one niece, Laura Lindsey and husband, Dr. Timothy Lindsey, of St. Francisville, La.; five nephews, Charles Seal and wife, Kate, of St. Francisville, Wil Seal, Greg Wesberry and wife, Jane, Milton Wesberry Jr. and wife, Carolyn, Ronnie Matthews and wife, Carol, and James Matthews, all of Woodville; and a number of other nieces and nephews.
