Can you hear it? Well, just keep listening because it’s coming and it’s coming soon. Yes, that’s right. On Friday and Saturday everyone is invited to come out to Ben Corner Plantation in Sibley to experience the “2016 Sibley Zydeco Festival” where there will be great music, good food and family fun for all. I am very proud to announce that this will be out eighth year hosting the festival, and we are expecting a great turnout, and we want you to be a part of the excitement.

RVs and campers are welcome; tents, grills and coolers are also. No ATVs or side-by-sides are allowed this year, but you can bring a golf-cart. We will have food venders there to satisfy your hunger.

We have an all-star artist line-up this year. Gates open at noon Friday. Our Rodeo starts at 7 p.m. Then, kicking it off at 8 p.m. it’s Lady Trucker, and making her Miss-Lou debut, Tess Swinks followed by Big Red & Creole Soul and Donnell Sullivan Band.

Gates will open at 6 a.m. on Saturday with lots of activities for children such as bungee jumping, rock wall climbing, hamster roll and more. Our rodeo main event will start at 7 p.m. with $1,000 added to the prize money.

Our Saturday musical lineup is second to none. Platinum selling recording artist “Boosie” headlines this year’s festival along with the smooth sounds of Lady Trucker, Laylla Fox, Tyler P and The Mississippi Blues Child — Mr. Sipp, Theodis Ealey, Big Hen and Lil Nate & The Zydeco Big Timers. But hold on to your boots, just when you think you’ve heard enough, we have the one and only singing his smash hit ”Womble” — Vic. And just because we like to have fun, we have decided to have a Womble dance contest where the winner will receive $500. You don’t want to miss out on this year’s entertainment.

You can purchase early bird tickets on our website at www.sibleyfestival.net. Tickets online are $30 and at the gate will be $40. Children 6 to 12 years old are $10. Children 5 and under are free. Each ticket is good for the whole weekend. For more festival information call 601-392-1030 and for more rodeo information, call 601-660-2843.

I’m looking forward to seeing you at the eighth annual Sibley Zydeco Festival on June 3rd and 4th.

Natalie Lyles is the Sibley Zydeco Festival event coordinator.
