NATCHEZ — Services for John Thomas Knight Jr., 78, of Deer Park, La., and Vicksburg, who died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Harrigill and the Rev. Dwight Sibley officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and will be noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Knight was born Feb. 16, 1938 at Natchez, the son of John Thomas Knight Sr. and Catherine French Knight.

He was a member of Bourge Baptist Church and attended Eagle Lake Baptist Church when in Vicksburg, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Mr. Knight loved all things outdoors, including hunting, fishing and gardening. He especially loved catching and frying fish for family and friends. He was a huge Mississippi State fan, having graduated from Mississippi State University in 1961.

Mr. Knight was preceded in death by both of his parents and a stepson, Karl Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Knight of Vicksburg and Deer Park, La.; one son Jeff Knight and wife, Betty, of Wesson; two daughters, Janet Knight Gay and husband, Tim, of Natchez, and Cathy Knight Roboski, and husband, Mike, of Natchez; one step-son, Johnnie Johnson of Natchez; one stepdaughter, Patricia Mulder and husband, Vernon, of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Jessica Gay Barnett, John T. Gay Jr., Erica Wooten, Jamie McKay, Brady Knight, Michael Roboski Jr., Anna Grace Roboski, Shelby Johnson, Jarred Mulder, Josh Mulder, Julia Warshaw, Hunter Johnson and Karly Johnson; and a number of nieces, nephews and family friends, James and Mary McNeese.

Pallbearers will be Brady Knight, Britt McKay, Michael Roboski, John T. Gay, Jarred Mulder and Hunter Johnson.
