NATCHEZ — Services for Wayne Edward Roberts, 85, of Vidalia, who died Monday, May 30, 2016, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Tate and the Rev. Joe Nichols officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Roberts was born Sept. 30, 1930, in Newport, Ark., the son of Edward Roberts and Effie Iola Gates Roberts.

He was a farmer.

Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steve Roberts and wife, Karren; one granddaughter, Tosha Roberts; and three brothers, Kenneth “J.R.,” Troy, and James “Tobe” Roberts.

Survivors include his wife, Melva L. Roberts; one son, Glen E. Roberts and wife, Brenda, of Natchez; four grandsons, Zac Roberts and wife, Stephanie, of Ruston, La., Joshua Roberts and wife, Suzy, of Springfield, Mo., Caleb Roberts of Austin, Texas and Amos Roberts of Shreveport, La.; one granddaughter, Mindy Roberts Johnson of Vidalia; nine great-grandchildren, Katie, Lainey, Luke, Hailey, Jessie, Meyer, Trinity, Kalie and Conner; four brothers, Bill Roberts and wife Chris, Conway Roberts, Burl Roberts and wife, Ruby, all of Vidalia, and Danny Roberts and wife Martha, of Southaven; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special group of friends at Riverview Farms, The Ranch House, and Three Rivers Co-op.

Pallbearers will be Zacary Roberts, Joshua Roberts, Caleb Roberts, Amos Roberts, Trinity Roberts and Daniel Cavin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Virgil Hoggatt, Cecil Parker, Terry Guillory and Vic Vegas.

Memorials may be made to the Vidalia Church of Christ.
