NATCHEZ — A Natchez man on a frog-hunting trip died Tuesday night after falling out of his boat in the Tensas River.

A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries news release said Carroll Dobson, 44, fell out of the boat after stopping the boat and standing up while hunting in a Catahoula Parish portion of the river.

Dobson was with two of his sons, and one jumped into the river to assist him but was not able to save his father, who was not wearing a life jacket.

Neither of the sons were wearing life jackets, Wildlife and Fisheries agents reported.

One of the sons told investigators Dobson had been drinking alcohol shortly before he fell from the boat, the news release said.

The incident happened at approximately 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The matter remains under investigation by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division.
