NATCHEZ — Services for John Rice Baker Sr., 90, of Natchez, who died Monday, July 11, 2016, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Denny Read and the Rev. Noelle Read officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Baker was born May 18, 1926, in Natchez, the son of Holiday Fleming Baker and Eurith Mock Baker.

He was a Mason and a member of First Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Martha M. Baker; two sons, John R. Baker Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Natchez and Thomas Glenn Baker and his wife, Donna, of Madison; five grandchildren, Andrew, Josh, Gavin Timothy and Matthew; three great-grandchildren; and two nephews, Paul Baker of Florida and Jeffrey Baker of Slidell, La.

Pallbearers will be Jack Cupit, Paul Baker, Jeffrey Baker, Rush Mosby, Chuck Caldwell and Leonard McManus.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Edward Daly, Dr. Bradley LeMay, Deaconess Hospice, Callie Thompson and Willie B. Woods.
