Ferriday Gators claim state title, next stop World Series

ALEXANDRIA, La. — The Ferriday Gators are headed to the Dixie Youth World Series.
Ferriday scored six runs in the first inning and never looked back as it topped Pine Prairie 19-9 in five innings in the state championship game.
The Gators pounded out 15 hits in the win, led by Brianna Henson’s five base knocks.
Tali Beard contributed with three hits, and Cassie Gonzales chipped in with two of her own, including a triple.
Darby Beach, Janie Burns, Makenzie Landers, Bailey Book and Emma Whittington each had a base hit.
The World Series starts Friday, July 29 and will take place in Alexandria, La.
