FERRIDAY — A Ferriday teenager already charged with four counts attempted murder was hit with new charges of home invasion Monday.

Donnie Sanders III, 17, 804 Eighth St., Ferriday, was booked on a charge of home invasion at the Concordia Parish Jail Monday. He was already in the jail when the warrant for the new charges were served on him.

Ferriday Police Chief Investigator Richard Madison said the new charges are related to an incident that happened June 8 at a residence on South Seventh Street.

When investigators responded to the call at the Seventh Street address, the victims — the resident and a friend — reportedly told officers that Sanders entered the house and began an argument with the victims, and when the resident told Sanders to leave he allegedly spit in her face, shoved her and spit in the face of the other victim before getting into a fight with her, Madison said.

It was reportedly his second home invasion at the residence, and he had previously been ordered to stay away from it by Judge Kathy Johnson.

Sanders was arrested July 20 on four counts of attempted second-degree murder for allegedly shooting into a vehicle traveling south on Eighth Street earlier that week.

Police said Sanders reportedly had a disagreement with some of the passengers of the vehicle.

None of the passengers were hurt in the incident, but two of the reported six rounds fired struck the rear back panel of the vehicle.

Sanders mother — Colleen Griggs, 42 — was also arrested in the incident and charged with four counts attempted second-degree murder because she was allegedly driving the vehicle Sanders stepped out of to shoot at the other vehicle.

Sanders was already out on bond for three other matters when he was arraigned in Seventh Judicial District Court Monday.

The prior bonds were revoked, and Johnson set two new bonds, $50,000 for the home invasion and $400,000 for the attempted murder charges.

Sanders was detained on the bonds Monday.
