Texas East topped Vidalia 20-7 in softball semifinal action of the 16-and-under Little League Southwest Regional Wednesday.
A rainstorm that swept through the area Wednesday forced the tournament to be moved from Vidalia to Jonesville.
“It was raining to start with, and both teams had a lot of walks early,” Vidalia coach Wesley McCarver said. “The ball was real slippery. We changed to a turf field, and the ball had a different bounce to it. No excuses, but we had bad night offensively and defensively. Our bats went cold at the wrong time.”
Vidalia went 1-2 in the tournament.
“It was a great effort by the girls,” McCarver said. “They kept playing to the last out. I’m very proud of them.”
