VIDALIA — Funeral services for Lucy Randall Williams, 95, of Panama City, Fla., and formerly of Vidalia, who died Saturday, July 30, 2016 in Panama City, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Ron Ledford and R.V. Mize officiating.
Burial will follow at New Pine Hill Cemetery near Sicily Island, under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday until time of service at the church.
Mrs. Williams was born June 8, 1921 in Harrisonburg, LA, the daughter of Oscar Randall and Emma Elizabeth Jones Randall.
Born to Emma and Oscar Randall, one of nine children on a farm, left as a teen to live with her sister, Lola. Working at the Garment Factory in Natchez, she met and married Ruben Williams. They had five children and adopted her sister Mattie’s two children when she suddenly died. She was devoted to her children, her sister, Susie and Calvary Baptist Church. She and her sister, Lola, were true servants of our Lord, caring for the sick and especially the “shut-ins.” Soup and cakes were always cooking for someone in need. She worked as a volunteer at Mrs. Swans Christian Bookstore, the polls at election time and in her 90’s at First Baptist Church in Panama’s Clothes Closet for the needy. Now God has welcomed a good and faithful servant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Lola Boles, Lillian Hemphill, Susie Randall and Mattie Clark, one great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Williams, one grandson, Frank James, two brothers, J.D. Randall and Herman Randall, and her only love, Capt. Ruben Williams.
Survivors include three daughters, Johnnie Carnes and husband, Richard, of Panama City, Gloria James of Pensacola, Fla., and Linda Reed and husband, Richard, of Hide-A-Way, Texas; two sons, Ruben Williams Jr. and wife, Patsy, of McCarley, Miss., and Randy Williams and wife, Susie, of Natchitoches; Mattie’s children, Cecelia Williams and Ricky Williams, both of Vidalia; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Monroe Randall and wife Julia, and Alvin Randall and wife, Edith.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Scott, Tony, Jessie, Chris, Vince, and Anthony, and nephews Larry, Darrell, Ronnie and Donnie.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Vidalia.
