Celebrate local officers tonight

Each day across America, thousands of regular men and women head to work and pray they are able to return safely when their shifts are completed.
These people are not superhuman, but they are super humans.
The men and women of law enforcement have always had tough jobs to do.
Lately, however, the men and women who wear a badge and pledge to serve and protect us have become under attack — literally and figuratively.
A small handful of officers have been caught on camera showing what appears to be horrible judgment on duty. Some of these instances end with deadly results, sadly.
But the great majority of law enforcement officers are good, hard-working, brave and fair people.
Here in our community, we are blessed with many, many great ones — public servants who put their lives on the line to protect us from the criminal element.
Tonight, law enforcement agencies all across Adams County and Concordia Parish will come together to celebrate a night of awareness. National Night Out began more than 30 years ago as a way to promote crime-prevention efforts and foster better community relationships with the police.
Our local law enforcement agencies plan to caravan across the area, showing a unity of cause that is both welcome and appreciated.
We hope everyone in our community can make it to one of the stops planned or at the very least, say “Thank you,” to the next law enforcement officer you see.
