FERRIDAY — Services for William Eugene “Buddy” Byrnes, 89, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at Riverland Medical Center, will be 1 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Melvin Rushing and the Rev. Gary Howington officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Byrnes was born Oct. 7, 1926, in Franklin Parish, the son of Billy Byrnes and Lillie Prudhomme Byrnes.

He was a member of Clayton First Pentecostal Church.

Mr. Byrnes was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, James King Jr.; one great-grandson, Tyler King; two brothers, George and Lee T. Byrnes; and one sister, Marie Whittington.

Survivors include two sons, Harold Byrnes and wife, Kathy, and Donnie Byrnes and wife, Sissy, all of Ferriday; two daughters, Jean Raley and husband, Jerald, and Shirley King and husband, James, all of Ferriday; one brother, Vernon Byrnes and wife, Margie, of Natchez; one sister, Glory Nell Poke of Winnsboro, La.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Sean Maples, Chad Maples, Sandon Kemp, Bill Raley, Joey Bryan and Jakob Bolyer.
