FERRIDAY — Services for John “Freddie” Turner, 54, of Ferriday, who died Friday, July 29, 2016, at Passage Hospice in New Orleans, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Old St. Reed Baptist Church on Levee Heights Road in Ferriday, with the Rev. Kelvin Davis officiating.

Burial will follow at the Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Turner was born Sept. 1, 1961, in Ferriday, the son of the Rev. Eddie Turner Sr. and Mary Dixon Turner.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Cynthia Turner.

Survivors include one son, John Brown; one stepson, Keith Brown, of Lake Charles, La.; four brothers, Eddie Turner Jr. and wife, Novella, William A. Turner, Charles Turner and wife, Cynthia, and David P. Turner; five sisters, Doris Hooper and husband, Ernest, Blanche Zeek and husband, Elvie, Deloris Turner, Lisa Turner and Kimberly L. Turner, all of Ferriday; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; aunts and uncles, Erma Turner and companion, Cornelius, Dorothy Loyd and husband, Bennie, the Rev. R.B. Turner and wife, Lee Pearl, all of Ferriday, Willie Dixon and wife, Erma, Irvin Dixon, all of California, Douglas Dixon of Las Vegas, and Jimmie Dixon and wife, Ann, of Alabama; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
