SICILY ISLAND — Services for Pauline Fairbanks, 90, of Sicily Island, who died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, at her residence, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sicily Island United Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard Hudson officiating.
Burial will follow at Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Mrs. Fairbanks was born Oct. 27, 1925, in Natchez, the daughter of Russell and Mattie Whittington.
She was a member of Sicily Island United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing with her family.
Mrs. Fairbanks was preceded in death by her husband, Carey O. Fairbanks Sr.; her parents; and one brother, Russell “Jimmy” Whittington.
Survivors include two sons, Carey Fairbanks Jr. of Ferriday and Ronnie Fairbanks of Sicily Island; two granddaughters, Angelle Mathers and husband, Justin, of Charlotte, N.C. and Maureen O’Neal and husband, Kelly, of Shreveport, La.; one great-granddaughter, Piper Mathers; two great-grandsons, Kade O’Neal and Konnor O’Neal; one sister-in-law, Dixie Whittington; and a number of other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kelly O’Neal and Justin Mathers, family and friends, Art Goode, Trey Peck, Clarndon Peck and Al Edmonds.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials by made to Sicily Island United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 509, Sicily Island, LA 71368.
The family extends thanks to Mrs. Fairbanks’ dedicated team of hospice professionals and special caretakers, Frankie, Deana and Debbie.
