An early 1-0 deficit Wednesday didn’t faze the Adams County Christian School girls soccer team as the Lady Rebels stormed back to beat Brookhaven Academy 4-2 in their district opener.

ACCS was led by Emily Williams, who poured in two goals, while Emily McNutt and Anna McDaniel each chipped in with a goal apiece.

ACCS head coach Jim Bob Allgood said he was pleased with the Tuesday’s result.

“I couldn’t be any more proud of my young ladies,” Allgood said. “They pulled out all the stops against a very good and improved Brookhaven team.”

Brookhaven struck for the first goal in the early moments, but ACCS responded strongly shortly after when McDaniel scored a game-tying goal.

ACCS (2-0, 1-0) then went ahead 2-1 after Williams scored on a penalty kick.

The Lady Rebels picked up in the second half right where they left off in the first.

McNutt scored early in the half, and after Brookhaven scored, Williams recorded her second goal of the match to give the Lady Rebels a commanding two-score advantage.

“Defensively, we played some very good, lockdown defense,” Allgood said. “But I was also very impressed and very proud of our midfielders and strikers. They moved the ball and were attacking.

“We tried some different things, and everybody did very well,” Allgood said. “I was very proud of all of them.”

ACCS will be back in action Saturday when it hosts the ACCS inviational.

Cathedral High School, Parklane Academy and Brookhaven will all play in the invitational.

Kickoff is set for 9 a.m.
