VIDALIA — Two Vidalia residents were arrested Tuesday for allegedly consuming drugs and leaving the drugs in reach of young children.

Krese L. Crandall, 34, 2030 Jones St., and Cody A. McEntyre, 24, 502 Willow St., were both charged with child endangerment, possession of schedule I drugs, possession of schedule II drugs, resisting an officer, improper supervision of a minor and illegal use of controlled substances in presence of person under 17 years old.

Vidalia Police Department narcotics officer Chad Fuqua said officers went to Crandall’s residence Tuesday to serve a warrant for McEntyre after receiving a tip he was at that location.

Fuqua said when officers knocked, Crandall reportedly would not answer the door for some time. Officers reported hearing crying from her children, who officers eventually learned were 2 and 4 years old.

Eventually, Fuqua said Crandall let officers inside and pointed them to McEntyre, who was in the bedroom.

Fuqua said marijuana was reportedly in plain view in the bedroom. Upon searching the residence further, officers allegedly found two bongs and suspected methamphetamine. Fuqua said the marijuana, methamphetamine and also several non-narcotic pills were in reach of the children.

Crandall and McEntyre were both in jail Wednesday afternoon with no bonds set.

The Concordia Parish Narcotics Task Force also assisted in the operation.
