SICILY ISLAND — Services for Amanda Cathleen Trichel Dale, 85, of Sicily Island, who died Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, at Plantation Oaks Nursing Center in Wisner, La., will be 1 p.m. today at Sicily Island First Baptist Church with the Revs. James Gass and Kenneth Hoots officiating.
Burial will follow at Harrisonburg Cemetery in Harrisonburg, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home of Jonesville.
Mrs. Dale was born April 24, 1931, in Jena, La., the daughter of Edwin Berchman Sr. and Mae Andrews Trichel
She grew up in Harrisonburg and attended Harrisonburg Elementary and High schools.
She graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, where she completed her senior year.
Mrs. Dale received a bachelor’s degree in business education from Louisiana State University. She returned home to begin a long and rewarding teaching career that included teaching business education at Sicily Island High School and Ferriday High School and mathematics at Martin Junior High School in Sicily Island.
Mrs. Dale was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Sicily Island and served as pianist and taught the Senior Ladies’ Sunday School Class. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Dale was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Sam E. Dale Jr., and one brother, Berchman Trichel Jr.
Survivors include one daughter, Cathy Dale of Harrisonburg, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Travis Bowlin, Michael Louis Heaton, Dave Allen Hudspeth, Matt Myers, Michael Tubre and Sidney Tubre.
Honorary pallbearers include Donald Ashley, Barney Bowlin and Walter Myers Jr.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Sicily Island, the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, the Gideons Association or the charity of your choice.
