Comedian and actor Gene Wilder died this week at age 83

Gene Wilder, the acclaimed actor who worked with comedic greats including Mel Brooks and Richard Pryor, died Sunday at his Connecticut residence.

Wilder was 83.

He starred in many Hollywood films during the 1970s and 1980s.

For a myriad of children growing up in the 1970s, Wilder may be best known for his role as Willy Wonka in the 1971 film, “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.”

Wilder teamed up with Brooks on “The Producers,” “Young Frankenstein” and “Blazing Saddles.”
