There will be no easing into the season for Block High School.

The Bears will host LHSAA Class 2A power Ouachita Christian, and BHS coach Bo Sproles said the Eagles more than earn their reputation.

“I’ve watched them on film, and they’re a very well-coached group of young men,” he said. “They have a great coach (Steven Fitzhugh), and he’s a great guy. We’re going to do our best to beat them and give them a battle.”

Sproles said he expects Ouachita to come out in a spread offense, and his squad plans to lean on its strong rushing attack.

“We’re going to do our best and do what we have to do to move the ball,” Sproles said. “There may be one or two surprises, but we’ve studied them on film, and we’ve been preparing for them. We understand what they like to do.”

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

“We can’t wait to play at home,” Sproles said. “We’re ready to come back to our stadium and put on a great performance for our fans and our school.”
