NATCHEZ — Natchez-Adams School Board of Trustees member Benny Wright is resigning from the school board.

The Natchez Board of Aldermen accepted Wright’s resignation at a Thursday evening meeting.

Mayor Darryl Grennell said the resignation is effective Sept. 30.

School board President Amos James said he had spoken to Wright late Thursday evening, and said Wright “decided to let it go.”

At approximately 8 p.m., Interim Superintendent Fred Butcher said he had not received word from Wright on the resignation.

Wright could not be reached for comment Thursday.
