Vidalia man arrested for beating dog

VIDALIA — A Vidalia man was arrested Thursday for allegedly beating a dog with a stick and chasing the person who called the sheriff’s office with a knife.

After witnessing the alleged incident with the dog, a neighbor confronted Willie R. Henderson Jr., 33, Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies reported. Henderson threatened the neighbor and deputies reported he chased the neighbor down the road with a knife.

The neighbor was not harmed.

Henderson was later arrested at his place of work, deputies reported.

Henderson, 287 Belle Grove Circle, was charged with cruelty to animals, aggravated assault and a bench warrant for failure to appear.

He was in jail Thursday with no bond set.
