Copiah Academy holds off Trinity Saints, 42-13

GALLMAN — Trinity Episcopal struggled to run the ball, pass and to stop Copiah Academy’s offense.

Copiah Academy senior quarterback Dylan Torrence had three rushing touchdowns and senior running back Landon Murphy added two rushing scores as the MAIS Class AAAA Colonels rolled to a 42-13 win over Trinity Episcopal.

Torrence had touchdown runs of one and three yards in the first quarter and two yards in the third quarter.

Murphy had touchdown runs of 36 and 21 yards late in the first half to help the Colonels take a commanding 35-6 halftime advantage.

The Saints struggled to establish their rushing game. They had 17 carries for minus-11 yards. .

Kevontaye Caston hooked up with Jakarius Caston on a 63-yard touchdown pass with 3:05 to go in the first half.

Kevontaye was also on the receiving end of a 15-yard touchdown pass from Sterling Yarbrough early in the fourth quarter.

Copiah Academy 360 total rushing yards while Trinity had only 108 yards of total offense.

Trinity Episcopal (1-2) is off next Friday night.
