DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The college football game between Alcorn State and Bethune Cookman on Sunday has been canceled due to severe weather conditions.
The MEAC/SWAC Challenge was delayed with 7:14 left in the second quarter and never resumed. Both schools agreed it won’t be rescheduled.
Alcorn State answered a Bethune-Cookman touchdown with an 8-play, 76-yard scoring drive to tie it at 7-all. Lenorris Footman lobbed it over the defense and Jaborian McKenzie ran under it for a 36-yard TD. Bethune-Cookman fumbled on its next offensive play and Footman found De’Lance Turner out of the backfield for an 18-yard TD and a 14-7 lead.
Footman completed 8 of 9 passes for 95 yards.
But the stats will not count as it wasn’t an official game.
Alcorn will return home to host Alabama State at 6 p.m. Saturday in its Southwestern Athletic Conference opener.
