Delta Charter eyes Friday showdown against Cedar Creek

After a hard-fought 14-6 win last week over Lake Charles College Prep, Delta Charter School will have an equally challenging contest Friday when it travels to take on Cedar Creek High School.
Cedar Creek dropped its opener, 21-19 to Loyola College Prep, but storm coach Zach Rogel said the Cougars’ triple-option offense presents a steep challenge.
“It’s a very tough matchup,” Rogel said. “I think we embrace the underdog role. They play real fast and real sound, mistake-free football. It’s going to take our best game.”
The first-year DCS coach last week’s win served as a rewarding win for all the effort his players put in during the offseason.
“It’s just satisfaction; We worked hard all summer long,” he said.
While Rogel was pleased with last week’s win, the Storm head man said there are still areas he’d like to see cleaned up heading into Friday’s tilt.
“We struggled offensively, and we need to clean that up,” Rogel said. “We challenged the offensive line to step it up and execute assignments.”
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
