Even though Franklin County is in a higher classification in MHSAA than Loyd Star, the Class 3A Bulldogs will have their hands full when they host the Class 2A Hornets at 7 p.m. Friday.
Loyd Star is averaging nearly 44 points per game after just three games.
Franklin County is coming off its first win of the season, a 28-21 comeback victory over North Pike.
“We cleaned up our early mistakes, and we played and coached better,” Franklin County head coach Trey Woodard said.
Woodard said his squad will have to again limit the mental mistakes in order to slow down a high-powered Loyd Star offense.
“They have some good athletes, and they have a good scheme that uses thoses athletes,” he said.
Woodard said the keys for his squad are stopping the run and containing wide receiver James Beard. Woodard also said the offense needs consistency, and the defense must force turnovers.
