The Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week award went to Southern Miss for the second straight week, as junior kick returner Allenzae Staggers won after returning a punt for a touchdown.
Staggers is a former standout for the Wilkinson County High School Wildcats. He is in his first season at Southern Miss after transferring from East Mississippi Community College this season.
Staggers registered a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown against Savannah State for his first punt return for a touchdown as a Golden Eagle. The Woodville, Mississippi, native finished the night with four returns for 85 yards. It was the first punt return for a score by a Golden Eagle since Tracy Lampley returned one at East Carolina in 2011.
C-USA Football Players of the Week are voted on by a panel of the league’s media.
