Jefferson County hits road to face Amite County

During practice this week, Jefferson County head coach James Herrington and his staff have stressed to their players the importance of playing four quarters after the Tigers blew a 28-14 halftime lead last week to South Delta.
“The game’s not over until it’s over,” Herrington said. “You have to stay focused and keep your foot on the gas pedal.
Jefferson County (1-3) travels to Liberty to face an Amite County team that went to the second round of the MHSAA Class 2A playoffs last year, but is currently 0-3 this season.
“They’re still the same scrappy Amite County team,” Herrington said. “They may be more dangerous because some desperation may set in, and they are at home. You can’t underestimate what kind of motivation that is.”
As to what kind of challenge the Trojans present, Herrington said he expects his squad will see plenty of blitzes.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday.
