NATCHEZ — Services for Henry Paul Vanier, 71, of Vidalia, who died Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, in Vidalia, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Natchez Church of God with the Rev. Brian Monehan officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Vanier was born Feb. 7, 1945, in Catahoula Parish, the son of Thomas Henry Vanier and Ethel Jones Vanier.
He was retired from the oil field after 42 years of service. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 231 in Summit where he was past master.
Mr. Vanier proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; three sisters; and a very special friend, Jackie “Big Momma” Ferrington.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Sue Vanier; two sons, Timothy Paul Vanier and wife, Sandra, of Vidalia and Vernon Dwight Vanier and wife, Stacie, of Stonewall, La.; one brother, Jimmy Vanier of Vidalia; four sisters, Catherine Bashrum and husband, Ray, of Pineville, La., Bonnie Hula of Ferriday, Doris Boney and husband, Bo, of Ball, La., and Rose Brandon of Alvin, Texas; three granddaughters, Hayley Vanier and Faith Lowe of Vidalia and Brianna Vanier of Stonewall; one grandson, Derek Vanier of Vidalia; two great-grandsons, Corban and Connor; special friend, Melvin “Big Daddy” Ferrington of Ferriday; and a number of nieces, nephews including Gayle Westbrook.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Vanier, Mike Vanier, Bennie Tarver, Clay Westbrook, Carey Westbrook, D.J. Vanier, Ron Bruit and Jason Coco.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary “Peanut” Boyd, Gary Smith and Gary Sumerall.
The family extends special thanks to the Veterans Administration Clinic in Natchez, Camellia Hospice Care, the nursing staff at Merit Health, Intensive Home Health and Dr. Gautum.
