St. Frederick High School was not exactly a gracious guest as Delta Charter School’s homecoming opponent Friday night in an LHSAA District 2-1A game.

St. Frederick jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and never looked back as the Warriors, ranked No. 10 in the latest LSWA Class 1A poll, took care of the Storm 45-20.

“We made a lot of mistakes with penalties. We had a couple of turnovers,” Delta Charter head coach Zach Rogel said. “Their offense was clicking in the first half.”
Was it ever. St. Frederick scored three touchdowns in the first quarter alone for a 21-0 by the quarter’s end. The Warriors did not let up in the second quarter as they scored two touchdowns and a field goal.

The Storm managed to get into the end zone in the second quarter, but still trailed at halftime 38-6. The second half was somewhat of a different story as the Storm scored 14 straight points to make it a 38-20 game.

“We responded well in the second half,” Rogel said. “All of their touchdowns were rushing touchdowns. All of our touchdowns were passing.”

Lee Lancaster finished the night with three touchdown passes — one each to Drake Smith, Trey Poole and Jalen Williams.

Delta Charter (1-4, 0-2) next plays at 7 p.m. Friday at district foe Tensas High School.
