Delta Charter falls in final seconds to Tensas

Just when it looked like the Delta Charter School Storm was going to ruin Tensas High School’s homecoming game, the Panthers made sure that was not going to happen.

“They scored on a long pass play with under 10 seconds left. That was a real heartbreaker,” Delta Charter head coach Zach Rogel said.

That touchdown enabled Tensas High to escape with a 32-29 win over Delta Charter in an LHSAA District 2-1A game Friday night despite an overall outstanding performance by the Storm’s Dawson Woodruff, who had 190 receiving yards and one touchdown to go with two interceptions on defense.
Delta Charter took a 7-6 lead into halftime and then led 15-6 with 8:13 to go in the third quarter until the Panthers scored twice in the quarter to grab a 20-15 lead. Jalen Williams scored on a 1-yard run to give the Storm a 21-20 before the Panthers rallied late.
Delta Charter (1-5, 0-3) hosts Delhi Charter at 7 p.m. Friday.
