Sicily Island, Block fall at home

Courtney Boatner was the only bright spot for Sicily Island as the Tigers lost to the Delhi Charter Gators 39-8 Friday night in an LHSAA District 2-1A game.

Boatner socred on a 3-yard run and added the 2-point conversion run in the third quarter. He had 14 carries for 57 yards. Sicily Island was held to 77 yards of total offense and lost three fumbles.

Sicily Island (0-5, 0-3) plays at Delhi High School at 7 p.m. Friday.

JONESVILLE — The Block Bears had 536 total rushing yards and still lost to the LaSalle Tigers 48-18 Friday night in the LHSAA District 3-1A opener for both teams.

“Why we lost the game, I don’t know,” Block head coach Bo Sproles said. “Need to work on our tackling. We established the running game. They hit us with a long pass and a couple of long runs.”

Wingback Freddon Butcher had a touchdown run of over 80 yards for Block.

Block (0-6, 0-0) hosts Northwood-Lena at 7 p.m. Thursday.
