Natchez Inc., Vidalia partnership good example for other agencies

Cooperation between the Town of Vidalia and Natchez Inc. should serve as a model for all of our area’s governmental and quasi-governmental agencies.
Natchez, Vidalia and the rest of our area are simply too small to waste resources on unnecessarily duplicated services.
Natchez Inc. is the economic development engine for Natchez and Adams County. The group is a non-profit organization that receives funding from Adams County, the City of Natchez and Natchez Now, a non-profit that allows private businesses to contribute to Natchez Inc.’s efforts.
The Town of Vidalia’s involvement — while complicated in structure — essentially uses the resources of Natchez Inc. and the Concordia Parish Economic and Industrial Development District to bear on any potential business and industrial prospects.
Partnering together makes perfect sense. Natchez Inc. gains a valuable partner in Vidalia and a talented and capable economic developer in the deal as well.
Natchez Inc. gains a strong partner both for funding purposes as well as for expanding the potential knowledge pool it has about bringing jobs to our community.
In the end, a job in the region is a benefit to all of us, regardless of where that job lands.
We view the partnership as a good union of two strong agencies. The result should be good for all of us.
