Alcorn QB earns recognition

LORMAN — vThe Braves defeated Alabama A&M 42-19 Saturday on the road to improve to 2-0 against teams in the SWAC East Division.

Footman, from Monticello, Fla., made his first start at quarterback since the opening game of the season against Alabama State. He accounted for five touchdowns, including three on the ground and two in the air. He ran for 122 yards, with one being a 53-yard score. Footman also ended with 132 passing yards.

Ferrell, a product of Jacksonville, Fla., stepped up big for the Braves with six tackles, a key sack and a pair of tackles for a loss resulting in -10 yards. His six tackles marked a career-high, upping his previous best of four. The linebacker helped an Alcorn defense hold Alabama A&M to just three points in the second half, including zero in the fourth quarter.
