NATCHEZ — Services for Willie Mae Washington Holmes, 71, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at Natchez Rehab and Healthcare Center, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the George F. West Sr. Memorial Chapel at West Gate Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilsonni Johnson officiating.   10_14-williemaeholmes-obitpic
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Holmes was born June 4, 1924, in Natchez, the daughter of Steve Washington and Vivian Bacon Washington.
She attended the Natchez public schools and was a retired hotel supervisor.
Mrs. Holmes was a member of the Israelite Baptist Church in New Orleans where she served with the benevolent society. She also was a member of Queen Vashti Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star Inc. Elect Chapter No. 1.
Mrs. Holmes enjoyed watching sports and other television shows which included Family Feud, Young and the Restless and the History Channel. She loved cooking and caring for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clinton Holmes; one son, Raymond Holmes Sr.; one great-grandson, Raymond White; and one brother, Louis Washington.
Survivors include one grandson, Raymond Holmes Jr. and wife, Seretha, of Baton Rouge; one granddaughter, Raynell Tuckson of New Orleans; two great-granddaughters, Briana Parker and Mikayla Tuckson, both of New Orleans; and a number of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
