LIBERTY — The Mississippi Department of Corrections and regional law enforcement agencies are searching for a state inmate who escaped the Amite County Jail Saturday evening.

Michael Wayne Young, 42, has two convictions — felon in possession of a weapon and escape — in Franklin County. He received two five-year concurrent terms when he was sentenced on Sept. 19.

Young is believed to have escaped at approximately 5 p.m.

People with information on Young are asked to contact MDOC at 662-745-6611 or the nearest law enforcement agency.
