LINCOLN, Neb. — Susan Kathleen Willey, 70, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at her home in Lincoln, Neb.
A celebration of life service at St. Mary Basilica will be announced at a future date.
Ms. Willey was born in Grand Island, Neb., and moved to Natchez with her then husband, Michael Willey, and three sons.
In Natchez, she worked as a reporter for The Natchez Democrat and as the director of religious education and youth minister for St. Mary Basilica. Later in life, she moved back to Nebraska where she – while working full time – was able to obtain her bachelor’s degree, and later, her master’s and doctoral degrees. She then settled in West Palm Beach where she was a professor of journalism at Florida Atlantic University. Upon retirement, she returned to Lincoln.
Susan was preceded in death by one son, David Willey; her parents, Louis and Emma Gzehoviak; one brother, Edward Gzehoviak; and infant twin sisters, Jeanine and Jeanette Gzehoviak.
Survivors include two sons, Michael of LaJolla, Calif., and Steve and wife, Tiffany, of Lincoln; and one granddaughter, Brynn.
Memorial donations may be made to the local animal shelter, the breast cancer foundation or the lung cancer foundation.
