Sicily Island falls on road to Beekman

BASTROP, La. — The Beekman Charter School Tigers jumped out to a big lead in the first half and held on for a 40-24 win over the Sicily Island High School Tigers in an LHSAA District 2-1A game Friday night.
Beekman Charter (2-7, 1-5) was only up on Sicily Island 14-8 before scoring two touchdowns in the final 6:21 of the first half to take a 28-8 lead into halftime
The host Tigers led by as many as 32 points before the visiting Tigers scored two touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions in the fourth quarter to make the final score a little more respectable.
Tyreke Tolliver completed 22 of 27 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns to go with 64 yards rushing. Tyrell Jordan had 113 receiving yards and one touchdown. The visitng Tigers also racked up 22 first downs.
Sicily Island (0-8, 0-6) plays at St. Frederick at 7 p.m. Friday.
