NATCHEZ — Services for Thomas White, 65, of Fayette, who died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at King’s Daughter Medical Center in Brookhaven, will be 11 a.m. today at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.
Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. White was born Aug. 13, 1951, in Natchez, the son of Annie Mae White-Smith and Bennie York Sr.
He attended the Natchez-Adams School District and was a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez.
Thomas began his employment as a security guard at Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital. He worked for AMR as a basic and cetco in the Natchez area for a number of hears. He studied and became a paramedic for AMR, serving people throughout the Miss-Lou area. Thomas was later promoted to the position of supervisor where he served until his health failed.
Thomas was baptized at an early age and united with Pilgrim Baptist Church where he remained until his death.
He planted seeds of love for his family, friends and anyone he came in contact with. He was well known and loved in every community in the Miss-Lou area. Even on his sick bed, he kept a positive attitude and had good advice for those needing encouragement. He was a humble man of God who always had a smile on his face.
Mr. White was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Auther White; his father; two sisters, Marilyn Barnes and Emma White-Smith; and two brothers, Bennie York Jr. and Larry White.
Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Annie Marie Nix-White; four sons, Thomas White Jr. and wife, Valerie, of Brookhaven, Marcus White of Natchez, Kenyatta White of Vidalia and James White and wife, Sharrell, of Palmetto, Calif.; one daughter, Tamberlane Chiplin of Vicksburg; five brothers, the Rev. Melvin White and wife, Tammy, of Red Lick, Ronnie White and wife, Tonya, Earl Smith and wife, Juanita, and Clarence Smith, all of Natchez, and Kendrick York and wife, Yana, of Muncie, Ind.; four sisters, Shirley Smith Lewis and husband, Carthy, of Natchez, Sherrye Mosley and husband, James, and Capusine Watts, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Doris McLean of Washington, D.C.; 10 grandchildren; six sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a number of other relatives and friends.
