NATCHEZ — Services for Mary Evelyn Hines Allen, 98, of Natchez, who died Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at Adams County Nursing Center, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Natchez with the Rev. Jonathan Allen officiating.
Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery in Jackson at 4 p.m. under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Allen was born on Jan. 9, 1918, in Jackson, the daughter of Hulon Hines and Ione Odom Hines.
After graduation from Jackson public schools and Clark Business College, she worked for S.P. McRae Company and Batte Furniture Company in Jackson. She married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Allen, Jan. 8, 1941.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Douglas Allen; and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Allen and wife, Jetta, of Apex, N.C. and Paul Allen and wife, Carolyn, of Natchez; two grandsons, Mike Allen and wife, Kelli, of Durham, N.C., and Jonathan Allen and wife, Allison, of Franklin, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Levi Allen of Franklin, Tenn., Nathaniel Allen, Bennett Allen, both of Durham, and Luke Allen of Franklin; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mike Allen, Johnny Waycaster, Richard Lambert, Bill Rice, Spencer Stutzman and Jerry Geter.
