Ida B. Ross Johnson

NATCHEZ — Services for Ida B. Ross Johnson, 84, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Aid Baptist Church with the Rev. Kejuane Bates officiating.
Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Johnson was born Dec. 15, 1931, in Adams County, the daughter of Love Ross and Nellie Hudson Ross.
She attended Carthage Point school and Natchez-Adams County schools. She was a homemaker and a retired cook for the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Forest Aid Baptist Church and served on the mother’s board and was a faithful choir member. She enjoyed interior decorating, hat shopping and serving as program guide for churches and organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Elijah Johnson; her parents; nine siblings; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include six daughters, Doris Drake, Sandra Wimberly and husband, Larry, Paulette Montgomery, Bonita Hamilton and husband, Wendell, Dietrich Beard and husband, Fritz, all of Natchez, and Joyce Ellington of Atlanta; two sons, Elijah “June” Johnson and wife, Linda, of Houston and Johnathan “Pokey” Johnson and wife, Gwen, of Natchez; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be sons, grandsons and nephews.
