WOODVILLE — Services for Emily Blair Sessions, 14, of Woodville, who died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, in Norwood, La., following an automobile accident, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Woodville United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Newman Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday, both at the church.
Emily was born Oct. 7, 2002, in Baton Rouge, the daughter of Joseph Broussard Sessions and Gena Barksdale Sessions.
A lifelong resident of Woodville, Emily was an eighth grade student at Wilkinson County Christian Academy in Woodville where she was a straight “A” student and had been tapped by Duke University as a Duke scholar.
She served as class president at WCCA and captain of the junior varsity cheerleader squad. She was a member of the basketball, tennis and track teams and the high school robotics club. She also had a junior black belt in karate.
A Christian, she was active in her church, the Woodville United Methodist Church, where she served as an acolyte and took part in the youth ministry.
Emily was very involved in her community, serving as a volunteer for the annual Woodville Deer and Wildlife Festival and a number of other projects.
She loved the outdoors, particularly hunting with her beloved daddy. She loved her two sisters and was very close to her many cousins, relatives and friends.
Emily was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gail Warlow Sessions and Jerald Lee Barksdale.
Survivors include her parents; two sisters, Bonnie Corban Sessions and Shannon Lee Sessions; grandparents, Thomas Oswald Sessions Jr. of Woodville and Pattye Haynes Barksdale of Zachary, La.; her uncles and aunts, Shannon and Roy Schmidt, Andrew Sessions and Shellie LaFontaine, Tommy Sessions, Cathy and Chris Pourciau, David and Katherine Sessions and Elizabeth and Brian Bradford; and family friend, William Roy.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Willis, Caleb Schmidt, Zachary Pourciau, Aubrey Pourciau, Christ Courciau, Brian Bradford, Ben Sessions and James Chaffin III.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wilkinson County Christian Academy class of 2021.
