Celebrate season with parade

If you find yourself feeling a little less than merry this holiday season, don’t fret. You may not be alone.
However, before you change your name to Ebenezer Scrooge, consider shaking out your holiday blues Saturday with a thousand of your neighbors.
At 4 p.m. Saturday, the Christmas spirit will descend on downtown Natchez — on parade for all to see.
The Natchez Heritage Holiday Parade is set to roll through downtown and even the jolly fellow himself is expected to make a special appearance.
Many volunteers work long and hard to make Christmas in Natchez events a reality.
This year’s Christmas parade will feature a special group of people walking the route — the many volunteers who lent their voices to an extremely special Natchez tricentennial project, the Natchez History Minute project.
Natchez National Historical Park historian Jeff Mansell coordinated the history minutes.
Mansell and a gaggle of interns spent countless hours researching, filming and producing the small videos that feature Natchez residents telling the history of some of our area’s most interesting residents of the past.
Those volunteers will walk in the parade wearing special shirts to commemorate the effort.
The parade is always fun, but this year, it will be steeped in even more holiday spirit as well.
Come out Saturday and shake off any remaining Christmas blues and celebrate the holiday, Natchez style.
