Vidalia, Ferriday set to be in same district

For the first time since the 2006-2007 calendar school year, Vidalia and Ferriday high schools will be in the same athletic district.
The LHSAA approved the final classification plan for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons Wednesday.
Vidalia is dropping down from LHSAA Class 3A to 2A, joining Ferriday under the same divisional heading.
Other schools joining Vidalia and Ferriday in District 2-2A include Beekman Charter, Delhi Charter, General Trass, Mangham and Rayville.
Beekman is also dropping down from 3A to 2A, while Delhi Charter is moving up from 1A.
The requirement for a 3A school ranges from an enrollment of 426-668 students, with 2A enrollment ranging from 257-425 students.
Delta Charter School will remain in 1A and participate in District 2, along with Cedar Creek, Delhi, Oak Grove, Sicily Island, St. Frederick, Tensas and 1A newcomer Ouachita Christian.
