FERRIDAY — Services for James “Jimmy” Michael Hawkins, 75, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at Riverland Medical Center, will be 11 a.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday, with the Rev. Darell Tate  officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 9 until 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Jimmy Hawkins was born on Sunday, Sept. 21, 1941 in Columbia, La., the son of James Malloy Hawkins Jr. and Maxine Elizabeth Brown Hawkins

Jimmy retired from DOTD after 29 years of service. He was also a licensed funeral director and embalmer for Comer Funeral Home and Young’s Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Danny Hawkins.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann Hawkins of Ferriday; two sons, John Hawkins and wife, Bernie, and Jason Hawkins and wife, Kara, all of West Monroe, La; one sister, Jan Wishum and husband, Frank, of Ferriday; four grandsons, Greg Hawkins, Hunter McNeely, Jordan McNeely and Malloy Hawkins; and one nephew, Eric Dryg and wife, Chasity, of Monterey.

Pallbearers will be Greg Hawkins, Hunter McNeely, Jerry Poole, Marshall Hawkins, Eric Dryg and John Richey.

Honorary pallbearers are Jordan McNeely, Malloy Hawkins and  Harry Porter.
