Teen charged in November shooting

NATCHEZ — A Natchez teen charged Monday is the third teenager arrested in connection with a November shooting that injured another teen.

Natchez Police Chief Daniel White said Harry K. Smith Jr., 18, 405 Watts Ave., was charged with attempted murder.

Smith along with Montreal Brown, 16, 310-B Dumas Drive, and Xavier Jenkins, 16, 118 Ivy Lane, were all charged in a shooting that injured a 17-year-old teenager in the area of Edgin Street on Nov. 5, 2016. Brown and Jenkins were charged in mid-November with attempted murder.

White said police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and have not determined which of three suspects was reportedly the shooter.

The victim was reportedly shot at least twice and then drove a truck to Zipy gas station on Old Washington Road where his vehicle struck a gas pump.

Smith, Brown and Jenkins all remain jailed, each with a $500,000 bond.
