DeKALB — Services for Edward Matthew Eldridge, 84, of Moss Point, who died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Biloxi, will be 2 p.m. today at New Hope Methodist Church on Jackson Road in DeKalb with the Rev. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home in Moss Point.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the church.
Mr. Eldridge was born Feb. 17, 1932, in Kemper County, the son of Thomas M. and Zelma M. Eldridge.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served in Korea. He was also a Master Mason with Masonic Lodge No. 202 in Moss Point.
Mr. Eldridge loved his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Elizabeth Eldridge.
Survivors include five children, Eddie Eldridge and Melesa Mazingo and husband, Mike, all of Moss Point, Tommy Eldridge and wife, Linda, of Hurley, Scott Eldridge and wife, Robin, of Harleston, and Teresa Eldridge of Helena; one sister, Ouida Claire Barnes of Natchez; one brother, Keith Gordon Eldridge and wife, June, of Philadelphia; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Eldridge, Jacob Eldridge, Jonathan Mazingo, Stan Harkleroad, Daniel Eldridge and Adam Eldridge.
The family extends thanks to New Hope Methodist Church and the Rev. Mike Hunter for their hospitality in hosting the services for Mr. Eldridge.
