NATCHEZ — Services for Jeanette Schepers Tisdale, 94, of Natchez, who died on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at Promise Hospital of the Miss-Lou, will be 10:30 a.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Russell Wagoner, the Rev. Mickey Alexander and the Rev. Blake McCain officiating.
Burial will follow at Jersey Settlers Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Tisdale was born on Aug. 3, 1922, in Motley, Va., the daughter of James Ralph Schepers and Florence Cecil Vaden Schepers.
Jeanette retired as a staff nurse after 28 years at Natchez Community Hospital. She attended Hinds County School of Nursing in Vicksburg, and Hinds Junior College in Jackson. She was a member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church, where she worked on vacation Bible school for 45 years and served for 20 years as the director. She was also a member of Cliff Temple Quilters Club for 20 years, a member of Kingston Homemakers, former 4-H director, instructor of Bible drill class- 4th–6th grade, substitute teacher for Adult IV class and was a member of Cliff Temple Baptist choir.
Mrs. Tisdale enjoyed volunteer work at Jefferson Military College.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, J.C. Hinson; second husband, Alvin C. Tisdale; three brothers, Ralph, James Robert and Elmer Schepers; four sisters, Carolyn Eick, Gertrude Winans, Mary Berryhill and Kathryn Norris; and one great-grandson, Hunter McIlwain.
Survivors include her two daughters, Margaret Hinson Boyte and husband, Carlos, of Hattiesburg and Carol Hinson McIlwain and husband, Douglas, of Natchez; one son, Buell Hinson of Natchez; six grandchildren, Jeanne Carlson and husband, Alan, Laron Boyte, Melissa Kelly and husband, Jeff, Donnie McIlwain and wife, Leigh, Stephanie Crawley and Dusty McIlwain; nine great- grandchildren, Kayla Boyte- Moore and husband, Daniel, Michael Boyte, Jared Carlson and wife, Sarah, Jordan Carlson, Alex Carlson, Caylan Kelly, Alex Kelly, Rae Hinson and Mallory McIlwain; and two great-great-grandsons, Jace Carlson and Oliver Carlson.
Pallbearers will be Laron Boyte, Donnie McIlwain, Dusty McIlwain, Jared Carlson, Jordan Carlson and Michael Boyte.
Memorials may be made to Cliff Temple Baptist Church.
