MONTEREY — Services for Gloria Gale Pecanty, 62, of Acme, La., who died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Monterey Church of Christ with the Rev. Lloyd Trisler officiating and Cliff Randall speaking.
Burial will follow at Acme Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the church.
Mrs. Pecanty was born Oct. 25, 1954, in Jonesville, the daughter of Thurman Cap Wiley and Betty Jane Wiley.
She attended Acme Baptist Church.
Mrs. Pecanty enjoyed a number of things — morning and afternoon coffee with family and friends, tending to her pet rabbits, hunting, fishing, processing deer meat and crocheting. Everyone who knew Gale has commented about her work, saying, “She has been a hard worker for her entire life.” Her children and grandchildren were her life. She adopted a number of others and became their grandmother. She was called “Maw Gale” by everyone.
Mrs. Pecanty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Freddie Marlin Pecanty; one son, Trampas Lane Pecanty; and one brother, L.C. Wiley.
Survivors include two sons, Dewayne LaPrairie and wife, Belinda, of Monterey, and Shaun Daniel Pecanty and wife, Elizabeth, of Acme; one daughter, Misty Gale Chevallier and husband, Davey, of Lake Charles, La.; five grandsons, Jachob LaPrairie, Caeleb LaPrairie, Marlin Pecanty, Scott Chevallier and wife, Lilith, and Raygen Chevallier; one granddaughter, Tayler LaPrairie; one brother, Marcus Wiley and wife, Phyllis, of Magee, Ark.; and one sister-in-law, Dianne Wiley of Jena, La.
Pallbearers will be Jachob LaPrairie, Caeleb LaPrairie, Colby Avery, Keith Ford, David Billiot, Patrick Ford, Greg Duncan Jr. and Dylan Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sawyer Mount, Blake Wilson, Marlin Pecanty, Travis Bordelon, Tad Bordelon, Greg Duncan Sr., Tucker Avery, Chase Avery, Landon Duncan, Cam Avery, Kinzie Avery and Cammeron Duncan.
