FERRIDAY — Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators were trying to unravel Wednesday night the circumstances behind a fight that left one man shot multiple times and another with injuries from a thrown brick.

Deputies said late Wednesday they were looking for two suspects, a man and a woman who had been arguing with the victim before shooting him.

Chief Deputy David Hedrick said deputies were alerted to the shooting on Black Bayou Drive at 8:23 p.m. and were on scene minutes later.

Hedrick said either the man or the woman shot another man with whom the pair were fighting. The victim was shot multiple times, Hedrick said.

He would not say the location or extent of the man’s injuries.

One of the two suspects also allegedly threw a brick at one of the bystanders causing injuries to the person, Hedrick said.

Before the suspects fled the scene in an older model white Mercury Marquis, the car reportedly struck another vehicle, Hedrick said.

The victims were transported to Riverland Medical Center and the person who was shot was airlifted to another hospital.

Hedrick said the victim hit with a brick is stable and that he did not know the condition of the man shot.

Hedrick said witnesses were being interviewed Wednesday evening and deputies have strong leads on the suspects.

“Hopefully an arrest will be made soon,” Hedrick said. “My dispatchers were very proficient in their duties, along with my deputies who put themselves in a very dangerous situation. I commend them for doing a good job.”

Hedrick said surrounding agencies have been contacted for support.
